| A Funny Story about Death |
[Mar. 5th, 2009|01:53 am] |
Back in 1984, we were living with our great grandparents because our house had burned down. My Grandpa Joe and Grandma Francis.
Grandma Francis had been sick for years, and for years, doctors were telling us she could go any moment. Grandpa Joe was generally healthy though, despite his life long cigar addiction.
That's why it came as a shock when Grandpa Joe got sick and died rather suddenly. Grandma was in the hospital at the time. So, my mother and a few others went over there to give her the bad news.
The doctor said, "Don't tell her Joe is dead. She's lived with the man for over fifty years, and the shock might kill her. Instead, tell her Joe is sick. Come back tomorrow and say Joe is getting worse. Come back the next day and say, 'We don't think he's gonna make it.' THEN, you can come back and tell her Joe died."
So they agreed, and went in to Grandma's room, heads bowed.
Mom said, "Grandma, Grandpa Joe is sick."
Grandma replied, "BULLSHIT, He's DEAD!" |

SUNDAY, We're pulling a double shift, and you can find us at the DC booth from 3:00-5:00!

| NY Comic Con |
[Jan. 13th, 2009|12:04 pm] |
This is a repost from the Zuda Blog, by Ron Perazza:
Hey everyone,
I know it's still about a month away but I think the next few weeks are going to go by quick. I want to let everyone know that ZUDA COMICS will be at the New York Comic-Con in force! Of course, we'll have our usual set up in the DC Comics mega-booth (Booth 1641). There you'll be able to find Kwanza, Nika, Dave and myself along with Zuda Comics regulars like...
Peter Timony (THE NIGHT OWLS, writer) Bobby Timony (THE NIGHT OWLS, artist) Johnny Zito (THE BLACK CHERRY BOMBSHELLS, writer) Tony Trov (THE BLACK CHERRY BOMBSHELLS, writer) Sacha Borisich (THE BLACK CHERRY BOMBSHELLS, artist) John Dallaire (THE BLACK CHERRY BOMBSHELLS, colorist) Dean Haspiel (STREET CODE, writer/artist) David Gallaher (HIGH MOON, writer) Steve Ellis (HIGH MOON, artist) Daniel Gover (AZURE, writer/artist) Caanan Grall (CELADORE, writer/artist) Kevin Colden (I RULE THE NIGHT , writer/artist)
In addition to getting your favorite comic creators to sign and sketch we'll be giving away some Zuda Comics freebies! Particularly coveted will be this years glorious Zuda Comics Sampler (sure to be used as currency in some future post-apocalyptic society).
We're planning on having a panel as well although, to be honest, we're not sure what to do with it. Any ideas? We've already reserved the time and room - it's Friday, 3:30-4:30, Room 1A06.
Finally, some of the guys above are forming an unofficial ZUDA "satellite" booth as a place for ZUDA activity when they're not hanging in the official spot. (BOOTH 2340, will be manned by Timonies and HIGH MOON guys)
Oh, and one final, final thing - I host a DC Comics talent search panel every day at the show (check the schedule). If you're a writer without an artist, or artist looking for a writer (or some other combination like that) it's something to consider. Comics are about partnerships and this is a room full of talented people. Talk, share ideas, show your portfolio - it's a great place to try and find someone to team up with!
Of course, you could always follow us on Twitter for regular updates before and during the show. Later! |

| Happy Birthday to Zuda |
[Oct. 30th, 2008|11:05 am] |
Today is the one year anniversary of the launch of ZUDA! Man, I remember that day well! The whole website had that "new website" smell. I remember reading Bayou first, then reading the competition comics. I thought to myself, "Myself," which is how I address myself when thinking to myself, for myself is me, "Myself," I thought, "These comics are good, and so different from what we're doing... does Night Owls even stand a chance?!?" Then I logged in and voted for High Moon.
It also happens to be Free Pie Thursday, so have a piece of pie in honor of Zuda! Then go there and read free comics... FREE COMICS!!! |

| NIGHT OWLS Interviews and Rumors |
[Oct. 14th, 2008|02:10 pm] |
REPOSTED FROM THE ZUDA BLOG. You can find the original post here: http://zudacomics.com/node/925
Hey Everybody! It's still NIGHT OWLS month here at Zuda, so we're gonna celebrate with a couple of interviews with The Most Famous Twins in Comics, who also happen to be us!
The first one is with Big Kev's Geek Stuff! Some of you may know Big Kev from his appearances on the Opie and Anthony show.
The second one is Comics Coast to Coast with Brian Dunaway and my old pal from way back, Justin Thompson! Justin also has a webcomic of his own, which I invite you to read, called MYTHTICKLE!
Lastly, some of you may have already heard the rumors being sprouted over at Rich Johnston's column on Comic Book Resources, Lying in the Gutters. I'm here to tell you now that these rumors are most emphatically and without question, possibly slightly maybe sort of untrue, give or take a few falsehoods, and not taking into account the possibility of alternate dimensions in which a version of these events that is exactly, partly, or not at all the same may or may not have taken place, or at the very least, the opposite of what I just said.
However, if you are absolutely jonesing for some animated Night Owls, there is always that cartoon we made on You Tube... as well as this new one here, featuring my wife (some of you know her as screamingdolai here at Zuda) as Mindy!
